Just realized my air filter went from gray to white in 10 minutes and I've been wasting cash for 2 years
I pulled my engine air filter out last Saturday in my driveway here in Boise and it was so clogged with dust and bugs that I could barely see light through it. The new one cost me $18 at the parts store and the whole swap took about 10 minutes with just a screwdriver. What got me was the before and after on my gas mileage: I was averaging 24 mpg on my commute and after two full tanks it's sitting at 26.5. That's basically $30 a month back in my pocket, which is way more than the filter cost. My old one had 28,000 miles on it because I kept putting it off. Has anyone else noticed a jump like that, or am I just lucky my old filter was that far gone?
