Just realized I've been over-torquing lug nuts for 5 years
Everyone talks about the 80-100 ft-lb range but my 12mm studs on a 2007 Civic kept snapping at 85, so I checked the manual and it says 74 ft-lb, turns out you have to match the wheel size and stud type. I found this out after replacing two studs in my driveway last month following a tire rotation, and now I use a torque wrench every time instead of the impact gun. Anyone else running into factory specs that contradict the general advice?
