I just read that a clogged cabin air filter can cut your AC airflow by half, which explains why my car felt stuffy last summer.

Found that stat in the manual for my 2018 Civic while looking up the replacement interval, and now I'm wondering if anyone has a good trick for accessing the filter box without breaking the glove compartment clips.

My 2019 Civic has the same setup. Push in the sides of the glove box liner, it flexes enough to drop the filter door without touching the clips. Brian_kelly91 is wrong about the airflow, mine was just dusty and the difference was huge.

Manuals always exaggerate to sell more parts. That airflow stat is probably for a filter completely blocked with leaves, not just a bit dusty. Most people never change theirs and their AC works fine. You're overthinking it, just yank the glove box out and if a clip breaks, it's a five dollar fix.
