Had to choose between cheap ramps and a floor jack for oil changes in my driveway

I used to just drive my Civic up onto those plastic ramps from AutoZone but they shifted on me once and I nearly slid off. So I grabbed a $60 floor jack from Harbor Freight instead and honestly its way sketchier trying to find the right jack point in the dark. Jack stands are a must though I almost learned that the hard way. Last week I spent 20 minutes crawling around trying to line everything up on a sloped driveway. Has anyone else found a solid trick for leveling your car on uneven ground without busting out a bunch of wood blocks?

Not sure I agree on the jack vs ramps thing. Those plastic ramps are sketchy for sure but I'd take them over a floor jack on a sloped driveway any day. I actually bought a set of those rubber curb ramps meant for trucks and they sit way flatter than the plastic ones ever did.

My neighbor actually talked me into trying those rubber curb ramps last year after he saw me cussing at my jack stands in the rain. I used to swear by the floor jack method but after swapping to the wide rubber ramps on my uneven driveway they grip way better than I expected (no sliding issues at all). The key is backing onto them so your front wheels sit on the thick part not the tapered edge.
