Finally tried the penny trick on my worn tires

I was rotating my tires last weekend and remembered reading online about using a penny to check tread depth. Lincoln's head was totally visible on the back two tires which surprised me since they looked fine from a distance. How often do you guys actually replace tires based on the penny test vs just guessing?

Penny test never lies. I check every oil change now.

Yeah I tried the penny test on my own tires once and then realized I'd been driving on tires that were basically racing slicks for like 6 months... Not my finest moment. The penny test definitely saves you from that awkward moment when a mechanic just gives you that "you know your tires are bald right" look.
