Changed my mind about those cheap oil extractor pumps after a 2004 Civic

Everyone raves about vacuum extractors for oil changes, but I used one on my son's Civic and it left almost a quart behind, so I drained it from the plug and got the full amount out. That extra old oil mixed with fresh stuff is exactly why I see sludge posts in here, and I think the tool only shines for boats and lawnmowers where you cannot reach the plug. Anybody else found the extractor method overrated, or did I just get a bad unit for 38 bucks?

Funny how that works, the fancy shortcut usually ends up costing more time and mess in the long run. Same thing with those "quick fix" drain cleaners that just eat your pipes slower than the honest way.
