Broke a brake line on a Tuesday in Birmingham and a retired mechanic set me straight

I was swapping out calipers on my 04 F150 and snapped a rusty brake line. Figured I'd just replace that one section. Guy walking his dog sees me cussing and says "you gonna do all that work just to have another line blow next month?" He had a point. I ended up replacing all the soft lines and the two hard lines that looked worst. Cost me about $60 in parts and an extra hour. Anyone else ever get talked into doing the full job instead of half assing it and had it work out?

Honestly that old dude saved you a headache down the road. Ngl I've been that guy before too, just trying to patch one thing and someone talks sense into me. Tbh it always works out better in the end.
