Bleeding brakes solo with a water bottle trick

My 2004 Civic had a spongy pedal and no one to pump it for me. I rigged a clear water bottle with two hoses to catch the fluid and cracked the bleeder myself, worked way better than I expected. Anyone try the speed bleeder valves instead, or is the bottle method good enough for a daily driver?
