Why does nobody talk about how many screws a simple deck actually takes?

I just counted 1,847 deck screws from my last build, which felt insane for a 12x12 platform. Has anyone else been shocked by a simple material count?

Feel the same pain after my last project. The hardware adds up way faster than the lumber does. It's a quiet budget killer for sure.
