Unpopular opinion: building my own workbench from scrap 2x4s beat buying one
Built my first workbench six months ago in my garage in Boise using scrap 2x4s from a deck tear down and spent $40 total on screws and glue. Before that I was just using a folding plastic table that wobbled every time I tried to hand plane something. The 4x8 top with a 3/4 inch ply layer is dead flat and takes a beating, way better than the $300 bench I almost bought at the store. Anyone else build with reclaimed lumber and deal with warped boards, or do you just buy new stock to save the headache?
