That time my uncle said I was wasting money on a miter saw stand

He builds decks and fences for 30 years. Said just use sawhorses like he always did. So I did it his way for 6 months. Crawling around. Tripping over boards. My back hurt all the time. Finally bought a Ridgid stand for $150. Now I set up in 2 minutes and cut 20 boards without moving. Uncle tried it last weekend. Said nothing but grunted. Anyone else ignore old school advice and find out it was worth the money?

Used to think stands were just an expensive helper but then I borrowed my neighbor's for a weekend and couldn't believe how much faster and easier everything was... it's like night and day compared to sawhorses. My back thanked me too after a long day of cutting.

Back's the first thing you notice, isn't it? I spent years hunched over sawhorses like a crypt keeper until I tried a real stand. Felt like my spine was basically thanking me in morse code. Plus you stop chasing boards that slide off mid cut which was my entire personality for a while. Sawhorses have their charm if you're trying to build a tiny deck for an ant but for anything real they're basically just expensive legos.
