That old miter saw at the community workshop in Austin really impressed me

I was at the Austin DIY maker space last Saturday helping a friend build some shelves, and I noticed their ancient Delta miter saw from like 1990 still cutting perfectly square. The guy running the shop said they've never even replaced the motor brushes on it. Do any of you still run old tools like that, or do you think modern saws are better in the long run?

My dad still has a Craftsman radial arm saw from 1978 that he swears by, but I found a 1985 Ryobi one at a garage sale last year and it actually cuts straighter than my newer Dewalt.

Whoa, you know what, I used to be all about throwing money at new tools... but that story kind of changed my mind. There's something to be said for the old stuff if it's still running true.
