Ran into a retired contractor at the lumber yard who changed how I think about framing
He saw me grabbing a bundle of studs and asked if I ever checked the crown direction before nailing them up, and I said no, thinking it didn't matter much. He spent 10 minutes showing me how a bow in the wood can throw off an entire wall 20 years down the road when the studs settle. Has anyone else had a random stranger call out a bad habit that actually made you rethink your whole approach?

Oh man, guess I should actually check if my studs are straight now.

Man I had a similar moment with an old auto mechanic who showed me how to read tire wear to spot alignment issues before they got bad. It's funny how those random 10 minute lessons stick with you more than any YouTube video.
