Picked up a chalk line after years of laser levels

I used to swear by my laser level for framing, but last month I was setting up a wall in my garage and the beam kept washing out in the sunlight. An old timer walked by and handed me a chalk line, said 'the sun beats the laser every time.' I snapped it and the line was right there, no squinting or fuss. It made me realize I was overcomplicating simple layout work because the fancy tool felt more 'pro.' Now I grab the chalk line first for anything under 12 feet, laser only for the long spans. Anyone else ditch the high tech stuff after a reality check on site?
