Picked a 3/4 plywood jig over MDF after a week of waffling, my dados came out dead flat

I was stuck between MDF's weight and plywood's edge durability for a shelf jig, went with 3/4 ply plus a quick shellac coat, and after cutting 12 dados on Saturday my bit never wandered once, anyone else find MDF too flaky for repeat cuts?

Twelve dados is a solid test. MDF's edges just crumble on me after a few passes, no matter how careful I am. The shellac coat on the ply is a smart move, keeps the dust from soaking into the face. I'll take a bit of extra weight over flaky edges any day.
