My neighbor's 30 year old table saw trick saved me $200

Old guy next door told me to wax my saw table with paste wax instead of buying a zero clearance plate. Tried it on my Delta saw last weekend and the wood glides way smoother now. Anyone else got a weird tip from a boomer that actually works?

And the wax trick also helps stop rust from forming on the table surface. I started using Johnson's paste wax on my jointer and planer beds too. Just a thin coat, let it haze, then buff it off. Makes a huge difference on older cast iron tops that tend to get sticky in humid weather.

Huh, I gotta push back on that a little @andrew_nguyen64. Wax works for slickness but I've seen it trap moisture under the coat if you don't get it totally buffed off in humid shops. Had a buddy ruin a jointer bed that way. I stick with just keeping a light coat of machine oil on mine and wiping it down after every use, less fuss in my opinion.
