My neighbor told me to drywall before flooring and he was dead wrong

So my neighbor Dave, he's been flipping houses for like 15 years, told me I had to put up drywall first before laying down my laminate flooring in the basement. He said it's the only way to keep dust and mud off the new floor. I listened to him because he's done this so many times. Well, I finished the drywall, sanded everything, and there was this fine white dust everywhere. Then I put down the flooring, but the dust had settled into every crack and the floor panels wouldn't click right. I spent 3 extra days vacuuming and wiping down each plank. Now I got a squeaky spot near the stairs that drives me nuts. Has anyone else had a pro give them bad advice that cost them time?

Dave probably forgot to tell you to seal the drywall mud first, dude.

Sealing mud isn't really necessary if you prime it right.
