I wasted 10 hours framing a wall before I tried a laser level instead of my old bubble level

I was building a partition wall in my garage in Austin and kept getting crooked studs no matter how careful I was with my 4 foot level. A buddy stopped by and made me borrow his Bosch GLL30 laser level and the difference was night and day my plumb lines were dead on in 20 minutes. Has anyone else dealt with fighting old tools when a cheap laser would have saved the whole project?

Man I felt that "fighting old tools" line in my bones. I had almost the exact same thing happen when I was trying to hang some cabinets in my laundry room and my old bubble level kept telling me everything was fine but the doors wouldn't close right. Switched to a cheap little laser and suddenly everything made sense. It's like your brain just works better when you can see that red line instead of squinting at a tiny bubble.

Oh boy, you're preaching to the choir here. I actually read a study a few years back about how using a laser level reduces eye strain and fatigue because you're not hunched over squinting at a bubble all day. It makes sense when you think about it. Your body stays in a better position and your brain can focus on the actual work instead of second-guessing a little floating bubble. I swear, once you go laser you never go back.
