Best day last week: when my miter saw finally lined up perfect after months of struggle

I was building a set of shelves for my garage and my miter saw cuts were always off by like a degree or two. Last Thursday I decided to really tune it up, took out the square and spent an hour adjusting the fence and blade stops. First test cut on a scrap 2x4 came out dead square, and I just stood there smiling for a minute. Has anyone else had a tool suddenly click into place after fighting it forever?

That's a fair point stone.troy, but I've got a bad habit of measuring twice and still cutting once wrong so I'm not usually fooling myself in my favor. Been burned too many times by a 45 that ended up a 47. The square doesn't lie, and it said I was finally square after that adjustment. Plus I held the test piece up against a level and didn't see any light through the gap, which felt like winning the lottery with a tape measure.

Is it possible you just got used to measuring wrong and now you're fooling yourself?
