Am I the only one who thinks pocket screws are ruining beginner woodworking?
I keep seeing guys on YouTube build entire cabinets with nothing but a Kreg jig and coarse screws, then call it fine furniture. A guy at the lumber yard in Tacoma told me his shop stopped taking repair jobs on pocket-screwed tables because the joints pull apart after two winters of swelling. But the other side is real, a jig costs $40 and gets a new guy building something in a weekend instead of quitting. So which is it, is pocket screws a legit method or a shortcut that teaches bad habits?
