A neighbor's comment about my workbench made me question my whole setup
Last weekend I was out in the garage sanding a table top I'm refinishing for my sister. My neighbor Bob, who's in his 70s and built houses for 40 years, walked over and asked why my workbench was so tall. I told him I set it to counter height so I don't hunch over. He said, 'That's why your arms are tired after an hour, you should be using your legs and hips, not your back.' He measured it and showed me his knuckles brushed the surface when his arms hung loose. I adjusted mine down 4 inches and tried it for a couple days, it does feel different. Has anyone else been running the wrong bench height for years without noticing?
