Vent: found out I've been measuring chain wear wrong for close to a decade
I was flipping through an old Park Tool repair book I got at a garage sale in Spokane, and it said the 12 inch ruler method only catches stretch on one side, so you can miss a worn chain by a mile. Back in the day I just eyeballed it against a tape measure on my bench and called it good, but turns out my rear cog was eating itself for months while I thought everything was fine. How are you all checking chain wear at home without dropping cash on a gauge?
