Tried to true a wheel on my apartment balcony and a spoke snapped at 9pm

So I was out there last night with my cheap spoke wrench trying to fix a wobble on my rear wheel. I got it mostly straight but one spoke was way too tight and I heard this loud PING. The nipple just pulled right through the rim. Now I got a wheel i can't ride and a bike shop that's closed til Monday. Has anyone ever fixed a cracked rim eyelet with a washer or is that a bad idea?

A spoke snapped on a balcony? That's nuts, man.

A 1/8 inch spoke snapped on my neighbor's balcony last week and it held the whole railing up fine for two days before I noticed it. That's what building codes and overengineering are for... there's probably three other spokes on that panel doing the same job. If a balcony can't handle one broken spoke, then the real problem is the design, not the manufacturing.
