Showerthought: my $8 chain checker saved me way more money than my Park Tool CC-2 ever did
My chain was stretched past 0.75 percent and I had no idea until a $8 gauge from Amazon told me, meanwhile the $40 fancy one I bought in Portland two years ago just sat in my drawer because I never bothered to use it right. The cheap one is dead simple, you drop it in and it either fits or it does not, and that made me actually check my chain every few weeks instead of once a season. Has anyone else found that the dumb version of a tool gets used way more than the nice one?
