PSA: I gave up on a chain tool and used a nail to pop a stuck master link

My chain was jammed and I couldn't get my Park Tool CT-5 to line up right. Out of frustration, I tapped a small nail against the link plate from the side and it popped right off. Has anyone else found a weird household item that saved a repair?

Used a butter knife to pry a cassette off once, which felt both wrong and brilliant.

Was that before or after you used a spoon to change a car battery? I once tried to get a DVD out with a credit card and just snapped the card in half. Felt like a real genius move.
