Vent: I picked a 6 month lease in Lisbon over going month to month, and I'd do it again
Everyone in the nomad groups says never sign a lease, always stay flexible, and I get why. But after 14 months of Airbnbs in 9 cities I was burned out from moving every 3 weeks, so when I got to Lisbon in March I signed a 6 month place near Anjos for 900 euros a month. It came out way cheaper than the short stay spots, my landlord let me keep a real desk and a coffee maker, and I finally had a gym I went to 4 days a week instead of hunting for day passes. The slow travel crowd acts like flexibility is always worth the cost, but my work got better and my sleep got better once I stopped packing a bag every month. For those who did a longer stay somewhere, how did you pick the length, and did you regret being tied down?
