The moment I realized my "private" Slack messages weren't private at all

Last month I was complaining about a client in a Slack DM to another freelancer. Next day the client mentions something about the complaint word for word. Turns out our agency's Slack logs are monitored by management (it's in the terms nobody reads). I felt like such an idiot. I had no idea DMs could be accessed by admins. Has anyone else gotten burned by assuming Slack DMs are actually private?

Wait, your agency just openly reads DMs without telling people upfront? That's super shady honestly. I caught my old boss going through our team DMs once and it felt like a total betrayal. These companies act like they own your conversations just because they pay for the software.

Drove a company car once. GPS showed my lunch spot to my boss. @val_wilson wild what they track.
