Last month I was in Lisbon, and a guy I met at a coworking space, Marcus, called me at 4 AM in a total panic. He booked a place through a site that promised "all-inclusive fees," but when he landed in Canggu, they hit him with a $200 security deposit and a $45 'cleaning fee' per night. He showed me the receipt on his phone and the whole thing was buried in tiny print, so I started screenshotting every booking confirmation before I pay. Has anyone else had a surprise fee pop up after you already checked in?

Yeah I feel this... I once booked a "budget" hostel in Rome and ended up paying extra for using a towel, which felt like some kind of cruel joke on my wallet. My own fault though, I never read the fine print till it's too late.
