Overheard a guy in a coworking space say 'location independence is a myth'

I was working out of a hub in Medellin last month and caught two guys arguing at the next table. One said being a digital nomad is just 'fancy homelessness' because you never build real roots or community. The other one fired back saying that's exactly the point - you get to choose your environment on a weekly basis. It got me thinking because I've been doing this 18 months now and I've definitely felt both sides. Some weeks I love waking up in a new city, other weeks I miss just having a regular coffee shop where the barista knows my order. So which is it - are we building a better life or just running from settling down? Has anyone else felt that pull between freedom and stability?

Well, holy cow. Nobody's talking about the car. The whole location independence thing sounds great until your laptop dies, your bank freezes your card in a foreign country, or you need a real doctor for something serious. You can change your view every week, but the real world doesn't care about your lifestyle. It's not about roots or freedom, it's about whether you've got a backup plan for when the wifi goes down and your travel insurance runs out.
