Just realized I wasted 6 months working from hostels

I finally broke down and rented a proper co-living space in Chiang Mai this week and got more done in 3 days than the last 2 months of bouncing between hostels. How did you guys figure out the right living setup without blowing your budget?

Same thing happened to me in Bangkok. Hostels drained my focus and money, private room was a game changer.

jenny_carr52, I hear you but I gotta say I see hostels totally different. For me, the wild social chaos of a hostel is part of the whole point of traveling, not a problem to fix. Yeah, you lose some sleep and your wallet gets lighter on cheap beer and random outings, but that's how you end up with stories about the guy from Finland who taught you how to play some weird card game at 3am. Private rooms are nice for quiet, sure, but they isolate you from the whole crazy energy that makes a trip memorable. I've had more genuine conversations and random adventures in a cramped dorm bunk than in any hotel lobby. The focus thing might actually be a blessing too, sometimes you need to get distracted from your itinerary to stumble onto something real.
