I dropped $80 on a 'travel-friendly' portable monitor in Bangkok and it lasted exactly one coffee shop work session before the screen went completely green.

Has anyone else had gear just give up the ghost in a super inconvenient place, and what did you do to get back online?

Ever try the freezer trick? My laptop screen went out in Prague and a 20 minute chill session bought me enough time to back everything up.

Freezer trick is for a dead hard drive, not a screen. That green tint sounds like a loose cable inside. @lisa_ross16 got lucky with a different problem. For a portable monitor, you're probably just out eighty bucks.
