Guy in a Chiang Mai cafe asked me to watch his laptop for 20 mins and came back 3 hours later with a mango
So I'm sitting in this cafe in Nimman around 9am, trying to send invoices on terrible wifi, and this guy next to me asks if I can keep an eye on his stuff while he runs to the bathroom. Cool, no problem. Twenty minutes go by. Then an hour. Then two. I'm ordering a third coffee just to keep my table and I'm low key panicking that something happened to him. Around noon he walks in smiling, sets a bag of mango sticky rice next to his laptop, and says sorry, he met some people at the market and lost track of time. No phone call, no message, nothing. He just trusted a total stranger in a cafe to guard his whole life for three hours. I still think about it whenever someone asks me to watch their bag at an airport. Do you actually say yes when a random person asks you to watch their stuff, or is that a hard no for you?
