Found a free co-working hack at a library in Lisbon
I was in Lisbon for 2 months and got tired of paying $15 a day at co-working spots. A local told me to check out the public libraries, so I went to Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal. They have free wifi, quiet desks, and you can stay all day. The catch is you need a temporary card which costs like 2 euros. It saved me around $300 that month and I actually got more work done because it was so quiet. Has anyone else tried using libraries in other cities for remote work?

Wait, wouldn't you get kicked out after a few hours or have to deal with some cranky librarian? I tried working from a library in Madrid once and they had a strict "no laptop zones" and the wifi was so slow I ended up just leaving. Idk, maybe it's just me but I feel like you'd stick out like a sore thumb if you're there every day with your whole setup, plus you can't take phone calls in the silent areas.

Yup that Madrid thing happened to a buddy of mine too. He tried the main library there and the librarian actually came over and told him laptops aren't allowed in certain sections, felt like he was breaking the law just trying to get some emails done.
