Coworking space skeptic for 2 years, then a week in Lisbon flipped me

I always thought coworking spaces were just overpriced offices for people who couldn't focus at home. Told myself I'd save the $200 a month and just use cafes. Then last month I landed in Lisbon for a 3 week stay and my Airbnb had zero desk space, just a tiny kitchen table that killed my back. My buddy from a nomad meetup in Barcelona kept saying 'just try one day at a place near Time Out Market, you'll get it.' I caved and paid 18 euros for a day pass. Within 2 hours I'd met a guy who does the same freelance editing niche and he showed me a client site that's paid me 4 times already. The wifi was stable, the chairs were actually ergonomic, and I got more done in one afternoon than I did all week at that table. Now I'm looking at monthly passes in every city I book, but I'm still cheap about it. Any other stubborn nomads out there who finally gave in to the coworking scene? What made it worth it for you? Or did any of you have the opposite experience where a fancy space let you down?

The "got more done in one afternoon" line got me. Same thing happened to me in Chiang Mai.
