Coworking in Medellin vs working from my hostel kitchen, and it wasn't close
Two years back I spent a month in Medellin and tried to save cash by working from the kitchen table at my hostel in Poblado. It was $9 a night and I figured wifi was wifi, but man that was a rough three weeks. Calls kept cutting out, the same four people shuffled through making coffee every ten minutes, and I was up at 5am one night finishing a client's landing page because the signal died all afternoon. After that I moved to a coworking spot in Laureles for about $150 a month, which felt like a lot at the time. My output basically doubled, I got daylight, and I met a guy there who sent me two months of steady work. It's kind of wild to look back and see how much I tried to tough it out to save a hundred bucks. So how do you all split it, do you treat the coworking fee as a real cost of doing the job or just work wherever you land?
