A hostel owner in Lisbon said my 'perfect' work setup was missing one thing
I was showing off my laptop stand and noise cancelling headphones in the common area, and he just pointed at my feet and said 'You're still sitting on a hard chair for 8 hours, that's the real problem.' It hit different because I'd spent so much on gear but ignored the most basic comfort. What's the one piece of gear you overlooked that made the biggest difference?

Man, I feel that. I dropped stupid money on a fancy keyboard before I realized my desk was just a wobbly door on cinder blocks. My back was killing me for a year before I caved and got a real chair. Felt like a total clown.

Yeah, that "wobbly door on cinder blocks" is the perfect picture of it. You get so focused on one cool gadget, @pat_hart, that you miss the basics holding everything up. It's like buying a great sound system but using it in a room with no furniture, so the sound just echoes. The fancy thing can't even do its job right because the foundation is a mess.
