The before and after on my iPad mini paintings from 2021 to now is wild lol
I was scrolling through my old Procreate files the other night and found a piece I did back in March 2021 on my iPad mini 5. It looked so blocky and the colors were muddy. Now I'm using an iPad mini 6 with a matte screen protector and the difference is huge. I think the main thing that changed was learning to use layers properly and actually watching some tutorials on blending. Also getting a decent stylus grip helped my linework a ton. Has anyone else gone back and been shocked by how bad their old stuff looks compared to now?

5 layers minimum" as a forcing habit... that's actually wild, I never thought to set a rule like that for myself. I bet my old flat disasters would have been way less cringey if I'd done that.

Switching to a matte screen protector was a game changer for me too. The texture let me control pressure way better and my lines stopped looking like shaky spaghetti. I also forced myself to use a minimum of 5 layers on every piece until it became habit, even if the first four were just rough blocking. Going back and seeing the old flat digital mess I called shading made me cringe hard, but it just means the tutorials actually stuck.
