Spent 5 hours trying to fix a transparent layer I drew on top of everything

I shaded a whole character before realizing I drew on a layer set to 30% opacity. Kept wondering why it looked so washed out. Has anyone else lost time to a dumb layer mix-up?

Oh man, that's brutal. Did you at least catch it before you merged everything? I once spent an entire afternoon coloring a comic panel only to find out I had the layer locked the whole time, so none of my brush strokes even registered.
