Shoutout to the artist who posted that piece using only 3 colors

I was stuck between adding more detail or keeping it simple like that, and I picked simple. It forced me to focus on shape and light, and honestly my work got way better.

Absolutely. Did a two-color challenge last year, just black and a single warm gray. You stop trying to paint every little thing and start building with solid masses. It completely changed how I see value.

Forced myself to do a five-color limit last month. It makes you solve problems differently. Instead of adding another shade of green for a leaf, you have to tweak the value or change the edge. My shapes got cleaner and the whole piece felt more solid. It is a great way to learn.
