PSA: picking a $300 pen display over a $70 tablet turned into 3 days of fighting drivers
Honestly I thought the display would fix my line work but I killed 6 hours on driver conflicts and a dead USB port on my PC. Ngl I drew more in one afternoon on the cheap tablet than in 2 days with the screen. Anyone got a brand that just works with Windows 11 out of the box?
Killed a USB port?? Like permanently dead? That's wild. I always figured the expensive stuff would at least not brick your whole setup. Six hours of driver hell for a $300 screen that does the same thing as a $70 one is rough though. The whole "you need a screen for good line work" thing feels like a scam the more I hear about it.
Did the USB port ever come back to life or is it just gone for good now? I ask because I had a similar thing happen with a cheap drawing glove of all things, the little rubber nubs on the fingers somehow got jammed into my laptop's port and bent the pins inside. Took me a whole evening with tweezers and a flashlight to figure out why nothing would connect anymore. My fix was just using a powered USB hub for everything now, which honestly solved like four other random problems I didn't even know were related. Maybe worth trying before you write off the whole setup, a $15 hub is way cheaper than a new motherboard.
