My tablet pen died mid commission at 2am and I found the file was corrupted
I was finishing a $150 logo commission last Tuesday around 2am when my pen just stopped responding in the middle of a line. I panicked and force quit the program, which was a mistake because when I reopened it, the whole file showed up blank. I ended up rebuilding the logo from a low res screenshot I'd sent the client earlier, and it took me 3 hours to get it close to the original. Now I save a new version every 15 minutes, but I'm wondering if anyone has a better recovery tool for when a file goes bad like that.
This exact thing happened to me back in March with a wedding invite design, three hours before the bride needed the final file. My tablet just froze mid stroke at like 1am and I did the same dumb thing, hit ctrl alt delete without saving first. When I opened it back up half the layers were gone and the other half looked like scrambled pixels. I ended up rebuilding the whole thing from the flat jpg I'd posted in our shared folder, which honestly took me almost 4 hours because I couldn't remember the exact font spacing. Now I keep a backup on an external drive and a cloud folder that auto saves every 10 minutes, plus I export a png after every major change just in case. Learned that lesson the hard way for sure.
