Hot take: spending $80 on a drawing tablet stand was dumb

I bought this fancy adjustable stand for my Wacom so I could draw at a better angle. Turns out a stack of old textbooks under my desk does the exact same thing for free. Anyone else regret buying those tablet accessories that seem essential but really aren't?

Yeah I fell for that too. Bought a 60 dollar tablet stand and now it's sitting in my closet while a old hardcover dictionary does the job better.

Oh man, the textbook trick is a classic though I gotta point out one thing. A lot of those expensive stands actually raise the tablet up higher than a stack of books can, which is better for your shoulder and neck if you draw for hours. My old art teacher told me that cheap solutions like books keep your wrist bent at a weird angle and can cause strain over time. So maybe the stand wasn't totally dumb if it saves you from getting a repetitive stress injury later. But yeah, $80 is still a LOT for something that's basically a bent piece of plastic.
