ArtStation vs DeviantArt - I picked the smaller audience on purpose
Everyone says go ArtStation for serious work, but I stuck with DeviantArt for my fantasy landscapes. Got way more real feedback from a community that actually talks about technique in the comments, not just likes. Anyone else find the bigger platform less helpful for actually improving?

Over 200 comments on a DeviantArt piece I posted last week about fog rendering, real feedback. ArtStation gave me crickets.

200 comments on a piece about fog rendering and I'm over here getting excited when my caulk gun doesn't clog mid-line. Your mileage may vary but I swear ArtStation is just a portfolio graveyard where people scroll with their thumbs and never type a word. On DA you at least get somebody saying "nice glow effect" or "what brush did you use for the mist" which is gold compared to crickets. I posted a cloud study once on ArtStation and got two views and one of them was probably the cat stepping on my keyboard.
