Appreciation post: that $80 screen calibration tool was a game changer
My prints kept coming out way too dark compared to my monitor. I dropped the cash on a SpyderX calibrator and the difference is night and day. Anyone have a good method for checking colors on a phone screen too?

Yeah, I read a blog post about this exact thing. The writer said even a basic calibration fixes that dark print problem because monitors are usually set way too bright by default. For phones, I just use the built in display color settings and match it to my freshly calibrated monitor under the same room light. It's not perfect but it gets you close enough for sharing pics online.

Matching your phone to your monitor under room light is way too hit or miss. The ambient light changes constantly, so that match is gone as soon as you move. You're better off just trusting the phone's own decent factory calibration for casual stuff.
