Appreciation post: My tablet pen died right before a big client review

I was finishing a character illustration in my home studio in Austin, about to add the final highlights. Suddenly my Wacom pen stopped working completely, with the deadline in two hours. I panicked, then remembered an old trick from a forum: I reset the driver by holding two buttons on the tablet for ten seconds. It came back to life and I finished just in time. Has anyone else had a hardware scare during a crunch?

Oh man, that driver reset trick is a lifesaver, isn't it? I had my tablet just freeze up during a late night session once, screen completely unresponsive. I almost threw it out the window before I found a forum post about unplugging the USB, restarting the computer, and then plugging it back in. The relief when it worked... I think I actually yelled. That kind of last minute panic is the worst.

Right? That moment when you think you've lost hours of work is pure terror. My old tablet would glitch out every time it rained, I swear the humidity messed with it. I'd be finishing a sketch and the pen would just start drawing on its own like a ghost. Unplugging and restarting felt like magic every single time.
