A quick critique from a stranger made me rethink my portfolio layout
Last Saturday I posted a new piece at a local meetup in Austin and this older guy who paints landscapes walked by. He said my gallery wall was too busy, that the eye had nowhere to rest, and he pointed at my strongest image sitting next to three weaker ones. I figured I was showing range but he was right, it just looked like clutter. I spent Sunday rearranging everything into a cleaner flow with bigger gaps and fewer pieces. Has anyone else had a random viewer point out something obvious that you kept missing for years?
