Wasted $150 on a VPN that actually slowed my whole home network to a crawl

I signed up for a year of SecureSurf VPN last month and my streaming kept buffering on every device, so has anyone else run into a VPN that just kills your internet speed like that?

Connor over at my IT shop was just telling me about this exact same issue with SecureSurf. He said some VPNs just can't handle the routing for streaming services like Netflix or Hulu, so they end up sending your traffic through super congested servers. I read a review online that said SecureSurf's "unlimited" plan actually caps your bandwidth after you hit a certain amount of data in a single day. Makes you wonder if those advertised speeds are even possible in real life, right?
