TIL a hard lesson about public Wi-Fi at the Denver airport last month

I logged into a fake network that looked real, and someone tried to get into my email before I shut it down. How do you guys safely check things when you're stuck traveling and need to connect?

Man, that's rough. I used to just click on any free airport Wi-Fi without a second thought. After a close call like yours at a coffee shop last year, I got a VPN. Now I turn it on BEFORE I even search for a network. It's not perfect, but it's like a basic lock on your stuff when you're using those sketchy public gates. I also just avoid logging into anything important, like my bank, unless it's a total emergency.

My local library's Wi-Fi taught me the same lesson, @hart.charlie.
