I caught a fake login attempt on my social media account!
Yesterday I got a weird message asking me to confirm my details through a link. I remembered to hover over it first and saw the URL was totally wrong. What little habits have helped you avoid online traps?

My Gmail account was targeted, but hovering over links showed the fake addresses.

Ugh, I totally disagree with the whole "never click" panic. @caleb_coleman88, hovering shows you the real link, that's the whole point. If it looks legit after checking, clicking is fine, you gotta live your life. Treating every single email like a bomb just makes using the internet a chore. Being careful is one thing, but this fear is way over the top.

Report any sketchy emails straight to Gmail's spam team. Hovering is smart, but never click on anything that looks off. I set up two factor auth after my own scare, makes a huge difference. Also, check your sent folder sometimes, scammers can hide stuff there. Staying ahead of this stuff is just part of online life now.
