Hotel wifi in Austin made me rethink using public networks for work
Was at a conference in Austin last March, hopped on the hotel wifi to check my bank account real quick before a meeting. Got a weird pop up about a certificate error but clicked through anyway cause I was in a rush. Next day my card got hit with 3 charges from a gas station in Nevada. I'm still not sure if it was the wifi or something else, but now I'm torn between using a VPN for everything vs just avoiding public networks altogether. What do you guys do when you're traveling and need to login to sensitive stuff?

Feel your pain man. That Nevada thing is sketchy as hell.

Got a weird pop up about a certificate error" - that's a huge red flag, dude. Just get a VPN.
